I heart geeks!

                                                         Geek glasses from Topshop
Millie decided to steal my geek glasses whilst out! She suits them well, especially with the vintage crop striped tee!

Models strut their stuff the geek way for Dsquared SS 11

Geek glasses... A trend that emerged some time ago, with designers sending their models down the catwalk totally geek'ed out! Then celebs decided to hit on the trend and now geek glasses are available everywhere!

Although pioneered on the underground fashion scene, the designers picked up on the alternative look. The geek look is quite versatile with most people able to carry it off. If you don't want to dress your child with fake glasses, try alternative geek wear.

I spy...

With my little eye...
Isobel & Henry a really cute online childrenswear  boutique , selling unique brands for both babies, boys and girls. Labels include: Phister & Philina, Kite Kids and Lofff to name a few.

                                       Lofff Trousers

I really love these Loff trousers for girls; team with a simple tee and white pumps for that clean, cool look. The trousers are really on trend at the moment with the highly patterned design and harem shape. Reminds me of the SS11 catwalk show for womenswear label Lamb, where there were alot of unstructured silhouettes

                                         Joules Skirt

Also from Isobel and Henry this Joules skirt hits multiple trends in one; the longer length, unstructured shape and chambray. With a little vintage tee, Swedish Hasbeen clogs and socks, I wish it came in my size too.

There is so many other items on my NEED list from Isobel and Henry! Have a look for yourself!

Every girl needs an extra large, over the top, super fun hair accessory like this one from Le Tour De Force.
You could choose to wear it with an equally super fun outfit or team it with a black dress and bright pink tights! Either way your little one will dazzle... Literally!

Sunday is the day of rest… and the park!

Bit of a grey day but we can cheer that up by adding some "brights" to today’s outfit.
Millie is wearing… Vintage homemade dress, stripe tee, stripe tights and headscarf!
I love looking around for individual items for both Millie and I and yesterday I bought this fantastic homemade spotty dress from the festival. It was from an amazing stall that sells childrenswear that has been preworn, and there are some fab finds!
This dress is great for summer (without tee shirt) or for the colder days layered up like today! There is a big trend emerging for layering, with layering clashing colours and patterns key for keeping it ontrend. Stripes are great as they go with pretty much anything and add a little bit of skater cool. But try florals with spots or spots with stripes!!! Anything goes!
To brighten up the outfit I have added some tights, don’t be afraid to add bright tights (esp stripes) to an outfit and again if it clashes all the better.

The dress is also a great simple A line shape and is so easy for girls to wear, whether that is with tights, bare legs or over jeans! There are some great labels out there that champion this style but Zara have done a fantastic simple dress.
Dress from Zara Kids £25.99 (

I have added the scarf to balance out the colours, the yellow just adds to the bright theme and gives a cool retro look that works with the dress.

The scarf trend has grown recently and wearing it also under the hairline means that hair can be kept out of the eyes. Lots of highstreet stores are selling pretty designs.

Saturday's Summer Gathering.

Off to a small eco festival should be fun! The outfit will have to allow Millie to get involved with the activities such as yoga and circus tricks, so again something robust but comfy!

Millie is wearing... a floral Paul Smith shirt, skinny jeggings, 70's furry gillet, Kangol hat and Chelsea boots!

The trend for skinny jeans is still very strong for both adults and children alike. Jeggings (whether you like them or not) are perfect for little ones tummys! The elastic waistband means they are so much more comfy and going to the loo is less of a tricky task!

The big trend for Spring Summer 11 has been prints with floral being at the forefront, a mass of blooms in every colour adorn skirts, shirts, shorts and footwear. The catwalk was full of floral and patterns with Erdem and D&G being floral forward in their collections... beautiful!

The floral shirt was a bargain from eBay, if you know what you are looking for you probably likely to find it on eBay! A little bow has been added to the shirt to add that little bit of quirkiness cool, inspired by Alexa Chung and her famous androgynous tux outfit.

I have tucked in the shirt to the high waisted jean jeggings to give a nod to the 70's trend that is around at the moment and I have turned up the hem of the jeans to shows bright socks in a fun kooky way!

The furry gillet was a great find and I bought it in an age bigger so it will last, as it makes any outfit look retro cool.
I love the classic Kangol hat it has come in handy in many occasions and is a great alternative to a standard sun hat! Millie loves it and everytime she wears it, she reminds me of Holly Hobby! Cute! I have added sturdy Chelsea boots to complete the dandy look.

This outfit will be fab for next season (AW 11) as the colour palettes are previewed to be the natural and earthy tones of browns and beiges.

This blog has been set up on the basis to dispel the common consensus that our daughters have to be dressed head to toe in sparkle pink High School Musical logoed apparel. If you have a little thought and creativity it will mean that you can avoid the crop tops and high heels that I have witnessed upon my travels.

I am not talking about dressing your precious one head to toe in designer, I am not that type of mum. But I mean shopping in charity shops, vintage shops, designer and high street stores and putting together a style that suits your child, which is important, let your child be who she wants to be!

My daughter, as much as she loves things that are cute and putting together dance routines. She also likes to climb, jumps off walls and pick up the creepiest of crawleys, therefore white dresses with cute sandals will not cut it!

But it also goes hand in hand with the type of person you are. I have always worked in the creative industries, working as project managers for design agencies and recently (before Millie) working with young fashion designers passing on trend communications to inspire their work.

I have a mass interest in fashion and this shows via my daughter. There are alot of blogs out there that give information on trends and outfits for us " older girls", but I see a massive gap for kids.

I will map out the trends of the moment for adults and relay that information in a child friendly way, I will also give tips and ideas on how to wear these trends. It will possibly mean getting yourself in the midst of some creative activity somewhere.

Photos will also be uploaded to illustrate what I mean. These could be off the catwalk or of Millie herself.

This whole blog is not to be taken literal and I do understand that I am being possibly quite snobby on the seemingly hatred towards the Disney logoed trend, but its meant to inspire or maybe just something to look at!
