Trend Spotlight: Military

Topshop Unique

Military has always had a big influence on every season, but for AW12/13 this influence is more focused with many trend predictions reporting military as being big news.

Military on the Catwalk for Max Mara

With this in mind today's spotlight is on the military trend, and highlighting some of the best interpretations for this trend within childrenswear.

Military Style on the Catwalk for New Generals

There is a danger with the military trend that you could look like a fully fledged solider on tour, with this in mind choose one or two pieces and keep the rest of the look as simple as possible.

Military Shirt www.zara.com

I love this oversized shirt from Zara Kids, its just so effortlessly cool. This would look great with a pair of black skinny jeans and some super cool baseball boots. It would also work well over a girly dress for that grungy Camden look.

Military Jacket www.stellamccartney.co.uk/en/kids/home

This Stella McCartney jacket is such a statement piece that it really does need to be toned down to get away from the fancy dress issue. Team it with some rolled up baggy fit bleached denim jeans and some delicate ballet pumps to give a contradicted but put together outfit. I would totally wear this!

Camo Jeans www.next.co.uk

Be careful with items such as these camo jeans from Next, as they could look too uniformed. A bright pink t-shirt will offset this and add a girly touch to a male dominated print.

Hitched Dress www.eliasandgrace.com

I love this hitched dress from Morley, the khaki green tone of this piece would work with alot of colours but I would love to see it with a pair of bright yellow tights and some brown leather high-tops. Top the look off with a lovely thick knit beanie and scarf.

Miller Beanie www.eliasandgrace.com

Millie Scarf www.eliasandgrace.com

This super cool knitted beanie and scarf set from Morleys would work well with the dress, as it will lift the khaki green colour enough and give it a great autumnal feel!

Military Bag www.allycapellino.co.uk

Ally Capellino has always designed bags with a utility feel and this kids bag is just perfect for the military trend. This bag would be great for school as well as adventures!

Military Style Boot www.fingerinthenose.com
Black Patent Dr. Martens www.store.drmartens.co.uk

You have to have a military style boot in this report and rock and roll brand Finger in The Nose have come up with the goods with their walking style boots, but if you want to have the original you can't beat good old Dr. Martens!

Camo Statement T-Shirt www.scotch-soda.com or www.childsplayclothing.co.uk

There are quite a few military adored t-shirts around for kids, but I just love this one! I love the writing over the camo print, it gives it a very much statement feel!

What I would love to see is this tee teamed with a OTT fancy pink frilly netted princess skirt and big black Dr. Martens! Millie when she was younger had a camo tee very similar to this from No Added Sugar and I did the same thing. People were astonished!
