GROwing up!

Millie is 8 and to celebrate this we decided to give her a blast from the past and buy her a purple Raleigh Chopper!!! She loves it, especially when the older kids (age 9) shout "cool bike" when she rides past!

But in all seriousness Millie is at that age now, where she likes boy bands and fashion! Sometimes I find that the labels I like are too babyish for her and the high street offerings for "inbetweeners" are very grown up and a little too sexy!

Simple yet funky styles. www.grocompany.dk

However the spotlight for today is on a label I feel may just have got the balance right, there are elements of coolness and being grown up but with a softer feel! I am not ready for Millie to wear heels and body con dresses just yet!

An alternative to the more body con style dresses. www.grocompany.dk

Sprout by Gro is a small collection made for the between girl! Annette Nordrup is the designer behind the collection and formed Sprout with the childrenswear company Gro Company.

Grown up but not OTT. www.grocompany.dk

Annette has three goals for Sprout that is: To stimulate the mind and open up the eyes of girls to a different world of creativity and stand out from the crowd.

Skirts teamed with thick tights make for a more relaxed look. www.grocompany.dk

Design a collection for the between girls - which is not an adult style but not a childs style, with a simple sophisticated edge.

Quirky items such as this knitted skirt will stand out! www.grocompany.dk

And lastly gather minimalistic, naive and understated design and make a collection where there are no expectations and no rules - just creativity!

Super cool and super edgy doesn't have to be Lady Gaga! www.grocompany.dk

The collection is full of simple yet really cool pieces that I would love to have in my wardrobe! Its very off duty model, with relaxed silhouettes and edgy accessories!

Too cool for school!

Millie's school is getting increasingly strict on the uniform now that she enters the Junior school years, but we do try and bend the fashion rules a little bit to give individuality!

The best way to do this is with tights and socks! I just love stripy tights and socks, but I really love the American Apparel different coloured leg tights!

Tights from American Apparel www.americanapparel.net
Tights from Mini A Ture www.miniature.dk
Tights from Phister and Philina www.nordickids.co.uk
Tights from American Apparel www.americanapparel.net

Sticking to the uniform rules and adding a little bit of your own style can be easy these days, as a lot of highstreet brands such as Next, The Gap and  Zara launch their "schoolwear collections". Here are a few pieces from various brands I have found that I think you could get away with!

If there is one thing I love, it is bags! I have loads and love this selection of school bags!

Pencil case from American Apparel www.americanapparel.net

As you can see school uniforms don't have to be too unfashionable, but if your school is super strict with the uniform why not funk things up with a cool bag or pencil case!

The Tweed Run 2012

As you are aware, I take Millie on a charity bike ride through the streets of London each year to raise money and awareness for Bikes For Africa.

Apart from being a great cause, we love to do this as we have to dress in 1940's style clothing (hence the name Tweed Run) and create a civilized scene through some of the capitals busiest streets!!!

Heres Millie!

A great time had by all!!!!!

I spy... Little Ducklings!

Little Duckling offers a fun and funky unique online collection of baby and children's clothing for both girls and boys.

Set up by mum Rosa (a designer) you can tell that the love for new funky unique clothing is a passion of hers! There are so many items here that you just would not be able to find on the high street! Cool, bright, fun pieces that will delight anyone!

I think you are aware now that we at Millieiswearing love Danish designs and these beautiful pieces are styled perfectly to give them the design justice they deserve!

With prices that range from £30 for the skirt and £38 for knitwear, Millie will be wearing Little Ducklings I can assure you this!!!
